Scientific Writing: The Basics is offered in two formats: an online course and an in-person workshop.
Both formats consist of four modules that cover the scientific writing process:
- Overview of the scientific writing process,
- Manuscript preparation,
- Manuscript revision and
- Course summary.
Online eLearning Modules
This course is offered in English, French and Spanish:
A desktop computer or laptop is recommended for taking the online course. Specific modules and topics can be accessed from the directory once the course is launched. The approximate time to complete the entire online course is 4 hours. A certificate of completion is provided for each module.
In-Person Workshop Materials
The in-person workshop is intended to be delivered over the course of two-three days. The workshop materials consist of a Facilitator's Guide, PowerPoint slides and a Participant Workbook.

Facilitator's Guide
The Facilitator's Guide is designed for use by facilitators for an in-person workshop. The guide includes information on workshop preparation, case study content, knowledge checks and answers, and survey and evaluation templates.
Participant Workbook
The Participant Workbook is designed for use by participants attending an in-person workshop.
Facilitator PowerPoint Slides
The slides are designed for an in-person workshop and include speaker notes for the facilitator.
